Day 1: Negombo
Upon arrival at the airport, you will be greeted and picked up by a guide/driver. You'll be transferred to a guesthouse or beach hotel of your choice in Negombo in an air-conditioned vehicle. The journey will take about 20 minutes. Overnight stay in Negombo.
Day 2: Anuradhapura Depart for Anuradhapura, one of Sri Lanka's ancient kingdoms. Experience the rich cultural history of Sri Lanka. Overnight stay in Anuradhapura.
Day 3: Sigiriya – Wildlife Safari Head to Sigiriya, a 650-foot high rock fortress renowned for its construction, artistry, and irrigation. It is a World Heritage Site from the 5th Century AD, featuring the famous frescoes of Heavenly Maidens in a cave. In the afternoon, embark on a jeep safari through Kaudulla National Park to spot elephants, deer, peacocks, boars, and various birds. Overnight in Sigiriya.
Day 4: Dambulla – Matale – Kandy Travel to Kandy via Dambulla. Visit the Golden Rock cave temple, dating back to the 1st Century BC, with its rock ceiling adorned with colorful frescoes depicting Buddhist mythology and stories of Buddha’s previous lives. The caves contain the largest collection of Buddha statues in one location. Continue to Matale to explore a spice garden. In Kandy, visit the Temple of the Tooth and enjoy a cultural dance performance in the evening. Overnight in Kandy.
Day 5: Kandy – Pinnawala Kandy, the final seat of the Sinhala Kings, is a popular destination for both local and international visitors. After breakfast, visit Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage, where elephants are nurtured. Opt for an elephant ride and explore the Elephant Museum at Millennium Elephant Foundation. Visit the Botanical Gardens in Peradeniya, which boasts a collection of over 4000 exotic plant species. Overnight stay in Kandy.
Day 6: Nuwara Eliya After breakfast, head to Nuwara Eliya. Stop by a tea factory along the way to learn about the preparation of the world’s favorite beverage. Nuwara Eliya resembles an old English town, complete with a lake, race track, manicured lawns with hedges, an Anglican Church, and an 18-hole golf course. Visit Hakgala Botanical Gardens, home to an exotic collection of roses and ferns. Overnight in Nuwara Eliya.
Day 7: Airport – Colombo Depart for Negombo or the airport.
