Buddha Statues at Gal Viharaya

Day 1: Negombo Upon arrival, you will be greeted and collected at the airport by a guide/driver. You will then be transferred to a guesthouse or beach hotel of your choice in Negombo in an air-conditioned vehicle. The journey will take 20 minutes. Overnight stay in Negombo.


Day 2: Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage – Anuradhapura After breakfast, head to the Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage or Millennium Elephant Foundation. Here, you will see elephants of various ages that have been separated from their herds. After lunch, depart for Anuradhapura, the first capital of Sri Lanka in the 3rd Century BC, and now a World Heritage Site. It is one of the most sacred cities in Sri Lanka. Visit the Sri Maha Bodhi, the oldest historically recorded tree in the world, the Brazen Palace, Dagobas, Ruwanwelisaya, Abeygiri & Jetawana Monasteries, finely preserved rock-cut statues of Lord Buddha, and palace ruins, as well as the Isurumuniya rock temple. Overnight in Anuradhapura.


Day 3: Sigiriya After breakfast, travel to Sigiriya. Explore the Rock Fortress of Sigiriya, which narrates a story of power, intrigue, and tragedy. This medieval city, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, gained prominence as the capital between the 10th and 12th centuries AD. Overnight stay in Sigiriya.


Day 4: Kandy – Dambulla Head to Kandy via Dambulla. Visit the Golden Rock cave temple, dating back to the 1st Century BC. If time and energy permit, drive from Dambulla to Matale to explore a spice garden. Dinner and overnight stay in Kandy. Kandy and Dambulla are some top cities to experience Sri Lanka's rich cultural heritage.


Day 5: Departure After an early breakfast in Kandy, visit the Temple of the Tooth and enjoy a cultural dance. Depart for Colombo/Negombo or head to the airport.
