Sri Pada is a mountain standing at 7,359 feet within the Sri Pada Wilderness Sanctuary. The footprint at its summit holds sacred significance for various religions in the country. Buddhists regard it as the footprint of Buddha, Hindus attribute it to Shiva or Hanuman, while some Christians and Muslims believe it belongs to Adam.
For centuries, it has been a site of religious pilgrimage. There are 5,500 steps leading to the top. Most visitors ascend to witness the sunrise, which offers a breathtaking view of the surrounding landscape.
The pilgrimage season lasts from December to May.
