Yala National Park
Yala National Park, located in southeast Sri Lanka, is a vast expanse of forest, grassland, and lagoons along the Indian Ocean. It is inhabited by wildlife such as leopards, bears, elephants, and crocodiles, as well as numerous bird species. For optimal wildlife viewing, the best time to visit Yala is during the dry season from February to June, when animals are more visible as they gather at the lagoons for water due to lower water levels. The park typically closes in September for maintenance. Known as leopard territory, Yala boasts the highest leopard density in the world, where these formidable predators roam with grace. more info
